5 Week Herbal Series

Have you wanted to incorporate healthy and tasty herbs into your diet through cooking and baking? This is the course for you! Starting on July 12th: Intro to Herbs- We will discuss basic herbs, their Latin names and what they are commonly used for to promote health and wellbeing. July 19th: How to infuse your own oil and make a salve- In this class we will use some of the herbs we discussed the week before and learn how to infuse oils and make our very own healing salve. July 26th: How to make your own tincture- Using our Herbal knowledge we will discuss how to make an herbal tincture and actually make one to take home! August 2nd : How to make and formulate your own tea blends- This class will look at how to successfully make a healing and tasty herbal tea blend. Aug 9th: Herbal Cooking & Baking- Using Teas and Tinctures is a great way to get herbs into you but how about other methods? $40 material fee paid to the instructor on the first night of class.

Yum! Summertime feasting is about fresh, crisp food. We all know the drill: a hot, humid day and no one wants to stand over a hot stove or heat the oven. To the rescue comes Chris with Thai summer rolls with crunchy fresh vegetables and your choice of crabmeat, cold shrimp, or more veggies; Pad Thai fresh noodle salad using local greens and veggies (and/or more crabmeat/shrimp); topped off with a fruit sorbet made on the spot. Don’t forget to bring containers to take home any leftovers! $10 food fee included in the cost. No discounts.

American Red Cross Babysitter’s Training, including Child and Infant CPR and First Aid

Students ages 11-15 will learn through text, video and discussion the knowledge and skills needed to care for children while their parents are away. Students will learn basic caregiving skills as well as child and personal safety. Successful completion includes Child and Infant CPR/ First Aid. Must bring lunch/snack/drink. No discounts.

Applique, Hand & Machine

Add depth and dimension to your quilting by adding one or more pieces of fabric to a background to create a design! You will learn traditional needle-turn as well as simplified and faster methods. First week the class will meet for one hour from 1-2 PM, weeks two and three class will meet for two hours from 1-3 PM

Artful Lettering

Fancy up that art journal, mixed media art or any other creative endeavor in this one-night class and learn several different approaches to artful lettering. The instructor will demonstrate several ways to add color to custom lettering. Come equipped with several favorite words as well as your favorite quote. There is a $5 material fee payable to the instructor. Students can waive the fee if they bring a .01 or .02 Micron pen. No discounts.

Ballroom Dance, Beginner

Students get a unique opportunity to learn both Latin and American Ballroom in one class! Latin Ballroom is one of the hottest dance crazes to hit the U.S.; it’s fun, romantic and a great form of exercise. Cruises, nightclubs, weddings, reunions and parties are always more fun when you are dancing, and American Ballroom Dance is a perfect ice breaker. At any social event, the sight of a great dancer moving to a captivating beat is simply irresistible, and now you too can step into that light with confidence. No partner or prior dance experience necessary. In Session I students learn all the basics in Foxtrot, Swing, Salsa and Merengue. In Session II students learn all the basics in Waltz, Rhumba, Cha Cha and Tango. All sessions are held for 6 weeks on Wednesdays at ABSolutely Fit Center, 9 Cumberland Street, Brunswick from 6:30 to 7:30 pm. NO DISCOUNTS

Ballroom Dance, Intermediate

Students continue to learn American and Latin Ballroom in this intermediate dance class. Students that have some ballroom and Latin dance experience are welcome - so get ready to perfect your existing dance steps and build confidence with each class. Students continue to learn all the moves in Foxtrot, Swing, Mambo, Merengue, Waltz, Rhumba, Cha Cha and Tango. No partner necessary. All sections are held for 6 weeks on Wednesdays at ABSolutely Fit Center, 9 Cumberland Street, Brunswick from 7:30 to 8:30 pm.No discounts

Botanical Drawing: Branching Out

Develop your drawing skills while rendering the craggy, peeling, and gnarled texture of bark and branches. Using graphite and / or colored pencils, explore the color variations and composition of the simple branch. Birds nests and abandoned wasp nests are also good subjects. Choose one or more from your findings. Drawing experience necessary. Materials: graphite pencils 2H & HB, battery operated pencil sharpener, kneaded eraser, colored pencils, 11 x 14 Strathmore drawing paper best or medium surface, canson tracing paper, drawing board at least 18" square, masking tape, 6" or 12" clear plastic ruler, magnifying glass....desirable, but not necessary. No discounts. The Mix in Brunswick carries these supplies. Shop early. Bring lunch and snacks.
