3-D Holiday Tree Greeting Card

One of the first things that herald in the holiday season is greeting cards. You can easily make your own 3-D cards to send to family members and friends and WOW them with your creative abilities. This one-night class will teach you all you need to know to cut and fold beautiful specialty papers into unique holiday greeting cards. Students are to bring an exacto knife, scissors, cutting board (if you own one), otherwise a piece of cardboard about 15" x 15" is fine. Material fee included in the cost of the class.

Abstraction Using Watercolors

This class is for the watercolor artist who is looking to expand their painting style using abstraction. Students will be introduced to other artists who work in varying levels of abstraction. Students will be encouraged to explore this watercolor style while working in a wet-in-wet format, using resists, incorporating stamping and collage. You will learn to develop your images using color and design theory coupled with your inherent intuition. Design principles will also be a emphasized in this class.

Advanced Coastal Navigation (Piloting)

This course continues to build on the base developed in Piloting, and includes practical use of additional electronic navigation systems and other advanced techniques for finding position. Among topics covered are finding position using bearings and angles; collision avoidance using GPS and radar; what to do when electronics fail; tides, currents and wind and their effect on piloting; and electronic navigation. Navigation tools, if needed may be purchased from the instructor for $17. Taught by experienced US Power Squadron instructors. Prerequisite: Piloting recommended, or a knowledge of basic navigation skills. No discounts.

Aging Awareness – Safety, Security and Well-Being at Home and the Workplace
