Acrylic painting may be just the tool you need to enjoy a color-filled life and it's easier to learn than you may think! Through a series of guided lessons and demonstrations, each student will learn how to mix colors, arrange pleasing compositions, use color theory and understand technical aspects of acrylic paint on various surfaces. Don’t worry about prior skills – we will nurture everyone in a supportive environment. Materials list is available on merrymeeting.org . No class on Jan 24 or Feb 14.

This class is designed for students who wish to further refine their painting technique using acrylic paints. Don’t procrastinate about getting work done at home any longer. Instruction in still life, landscape, and portraiture will be made available in a supportive environment. Attention will be paid to individual student goals. Continued emphasis on observation and color mixing will enable participants to achieve mastery in this vibrant medium. Some prior experience is advised for enrollment in this course. Materials list is available on merrymeeting.org. Optional supplies available from instructor for nominal fee. No class on Jan 24 or Feb 14.

An Introduction and Overview to Tiny House Construction

In this class, we will learn the basic fundamentals involved in the tiny house construction process. This is a lecture-based class giving students an overview of tiny house construction, and there will be a completed tiny home at the school that will give students the opportunity to experience how it might “feel” to live in a tiny home. This class is ideal for the person who is contemplating building a tiny house with the goal to have students walk away with the knowledge to make an informed decision. Topics covered in the class are not limited to, but will cover, design considerations, construction techniques, codes, tiny house living. This class will be held at the Long Branch School facility at 25 Main Street in Bowdoinham. Supplies to Bring: Note Pad if desired. No Discounts.

Bake the Night Away!

Who can resist the smell of fresh bread baking? In this one night class we will learn how to mix, knead, proof and shape basic yeast dough. Participants will learn how to create cloverleaf rolls, butter crescents, cinnamon swirls, tea rings and whole-wheat rolls as well as an economical savory braid that comes together quickly. You will learn what gluten is really about! Various yeast bread recipes will be shared and discussed. Each student will go home with a basket of yummy warm samples. All baking levels are welcome for this hands-on class. Bring an apron, rolling pin, cutting board and a plastic tub to fill and take home. $10 material fee included in price of class. No discounts.

Ballroom Dance, Beginner

Students get a unique opportunity to learn both Latin and American Ballroom in one class! Latin Ballroom is one of the hottest dance crazes to hit the U.S.; it’s fun, romantic and a great form of exercise. Cruises, nightclubs, weddings, reunions and parties are always more fun when you are dancing, and American Ballroom Dance is a perfect ice breaker. At any social event, the sight of a great dancer moving to a captivating beat is simply irresistible, and now you too can step into that light with confidence. No partner or prior dance experience necessary. In Sessions I & III students learn all the basics in Foxtrot, Swing, Salsa and Merengue. In Sessions II & IV students learn all the basics in Waltz, Rhumba, Cha Cha and Tango. All sessions are held for 6 weeks on Wednesdays at ABSolutely Fit Center, 9 Cumberland Street, Brunswick from 6:30 to 7:30 pm. NO DISCOUNTS
