Acrylic Encaustics Using Image Transfer Two-Day Workshop
with Anne Hebebrand
Have you ever admired the beautiful medium of encaustic technique? This technique is making a resurgence! Artists love the dimensional quality and luminous color that this technique creates over images. Come have fun in this two day workshop to learn how to create this age old lovely effect. Encaustic painting traditionally involves using heated beeswax to which colored pigments are added. In this class you will learn how to create encaustic images using acrylic gels without the need of a ventilated space and special equipment. Working with images from your smart phone and using apps to alter them, you will transfer your photo images onto a flat surface. Then using Golden Gels as a colorless paint, you will create a luminous, deeply layered surface, which mimics the ancient beeswax method.
Come prepared with photos on your iPhone or android and your username/ password information so you can download apps that will allow you to manipulate your photographs.
Anne is an accomplished artist and an award winning painter having taught at secondary and college levels as well as recognized as the Outstanding Secondary Art Educator in Connecticut and certified as a Master Teaching Artist.
