PHD Sand Castle Building (Piled Higher & Deeper)

$14

with Jeff Raymond

Calendar Jul 14, 2018 at 9:15 am, runs for 1 week

Ever dream of owning your own castle? Will you settle for a castle made of sand that will wash away with the incoming tide? In this one-tide class participants will learn how to pile and properly tamp sand in bucket forms to create a sand carving opportunity and bring their castles to greater height than ever before. Or so we hope. Castle, moat, and bridge layout will be discussed to show how water can completely fill the moat before the structure's inevitable collapse. Dribble sand castles and found object adornment will be discussed. Participants will be asked to NOT go on a castle destruction rampage until the class ends and then should limit such to their own castles! Buckets, shovels and some tools will be provided. If participants have stainless steel kitchen implements or stainless steel drywall tools by all means bring them. Table knives and spoons are good as well. Bring a lunch, drinking water, hat, and sunblock. Participants are responsible to pay their own park entry fee ($6 for ME residents, $8 for non-residents). Young folks 12-15 years are welcome but must be accompanied by an adult. Participants will meet promptly at 9:15 at the bathhouse on the right. Rain date: Saturday, July 28. No discounts.
