Come join us and unleash your creativity with these beautiful Barn Quilts. Pick out a design and colors and you’re ready to create your masterpiece. These will be painted on 24 x 24 inch birch plywood panels primed with white Kiltz ahead of time. No prior experience necessary, just be ready to paint a visually stunning piece of art that's rich in history and cultural significance. This class will have a fee for supplies of $15, payable to the instructor. Canvas and paints are supplied.

Classes cover sewing basics like the tools you’ll need to get started, threading a needle, sewing by hand, and how to purchase and use a machine as well as how to choose and use a sewing pattern to put together a wardrobe of basic clothing pieces. We’ll make a drawstring bag in class, and a simple piece of clothing. There is a $45 tools and materials fee payable to the instructor on the first night of class (includes fabric and pattern for your bag but not for the clothing piece).

This class introduces the vocabulary, tools and materials of hand bookbinding. We will learn how to bind a soft and a hard covered version of these beginner, single gathering books. Tools & materials provided. A materials fee of $10 payable to the instructor is due on the first night (fee is per registrant). *This is a Family-Friendly program open only to adults with minors. Children must have at least one adult registered with them.

This class is designed to accommodate those that are new to acrylic pouring and those that would like to fine tune their pouring techniques or learn a new technique. It is not crucial that you have drawing or painting skills, but we will discuss composition and color theory in the first class. Students will learn how to do a Dirty Flip Cup Pour, Ring Pour, Dutch Pour and Pearl Pour in a fun and relaxed atmosphere. Developing a painting after it is dry, varnishing and preparing a piece for hanging will also be demonstrated at the end of the class. This class is not one of control, but rather letting go. If you love color and texture you will enjoy this class. Students are responsible for purchasing their own materials for this class and will be given a materials list upon enrollment. *Please note: Materials cost vary depending on market value and personal preferences. Learn how to transfer hand-drawn imagery onto clay using monoprinting techniques with slip and underglaze. Explore layering, line work, and expressive surface design. Bring leather-hard pots if you’d like, or use provided slabs. All materials included; $20 materials fee payable to the instructor. No experience necessary.

This is an opportunity to learn how to draw Plein Air, meaning outdoors. We will be meeting on several Saturday mornings at 9 am at the Centre Street Gallery on 11 Centre Street. There will be some instruction and some suggestions on how to approach our time drawing outside. We will head off with sketchbooks in hand, into the coffee shops if it is bad weather and outside if its good. We will finish our session back at the gallery for review and sharing. Some experience drawing is helpful but not necessary. Bring a sketchbook, pencil, sharpener and eraser and weather appropriate clothing as we may be doing some walking. Meets on 4/18, 4/25 & 5/2.

Designed for beginners but open to all levels, we will use our pastels in a loose, expressive way to create several quick drawings, with the goal of finding new approaches to a very traditional medium. Using expressive mark-making and bold color choices, we will work from a selection of reference photos from our beautiful state of Maine. An array of mats will be provided, with the goal of everyone leaving with something matted that they would consider worthy of display!

Learn to identify, regeneratively gather and harvest, properly store and process, and weave with pine needles. We'll cover the basics of coiled basketry, which is a global, ancient human skill, and create a wonderful pine-needle basket. All tools and materials will be provided. *Program includes all required tools and materials.
