Boxwood Tree for the Holidays

A tabletop boxwood tree brings festive Christmas cheer to any room and the size is just right for out-of-the-way places and small spaces in need of a bit of holiday joy. Using a block of oasis as a base, you will build a tabletop-sized tree by inserting boxwood branches into the oasis and shaping it into a tree. Adding a bit of dried flowers, cones, bows and perhaps a bit of bling will make your tree a cheerful focus for the holiday season. Materials fee of $60 included in the price of the course. Canoe Paddle Carving

In this 3-week hands-on workshop you will create a beautiful and useful canoe paddle using hand tools. We will explore traditional designs and local woods. Christmas in Newport

Take a step back to the Gilded Age of the 20th century and enjoy the holiday season with a visit to Newport, Rhode Island. We will visit three decorated mansions and enjoy this seaside town’s festivities. Following lunch at Wright’s Farm, arrive in Newport to visit the Vanderbilt’s opulent Marble House. Early evening takes us to the elegantly decorated Breakers. Live music and refreshments will be the back-drop as guests enjoy the yuletide splendor of this 70-room mansion. Overnight accommodations are at the Hampton Inn and Suites in nearby Middletown. Sunday includes a tour of The Elms, all decked out with period ornaments. Lunch is served at the Viking Hotel accompanied by a Victorian Christmas Murder Mystery. On our way home, we will visit the Sandwich Glass Museum where they are celebrating the 10th annual Glassblower’s Christmas. Hundreds of unique glass ornaments, made by the region’s finest local and national glass artists, will adorn Christmas trees in the Contemporary Gallery. We’ll end the day with a 4-course dinner at the Hearth and Kettle in Weymouth. Registration fee includes transportation, hotel, holiday evening at the Breakers, mansion tours, narrated bus tour, glass museum, murder mystery, Saturday lunch, and Sunday lunch and dinner.
