Movement Meditation, Session I

If you would like a stronger, healthier body, better balance and the ability to move with more fluidity – this class is for you! Entertaining instructors guide participants through specific, easy movements done to inspiring music. This is a MOVEMENT class, not an exercise class – so no worries about anything strenuous. Your body, however, will likely feel some wonderful, immediate benefits. All movements can be done from seated, standing or walking positions. No class Nov. 28 during Session II.

Nordic Walking

Nordic Walking is one of the fastest-growing outdoor activities in the world. It burns 20-40 percent more calories than regular walking, develops upper body strength, increases safety by adding upright stability, while reducing the impact on lower body weight-bearing joints. It improves neck and chest mobility, enhances mood, and is a fun and social way to enjoy the outdoors year round. Nordic Walking is suitable for everyone from the beginning exerciser to the active athlete. Please wear comfortable footwear and dress for outdoor weather. The instructor is certified by the International Nordic Walking Association and retains the American College of Sports Medicine Exercise Physiology Certification, the Fitness Gold Standard. You may bring your own set of Nordic Walking poles or rent a pair for 3 weeks for $9 from the instructor.

This innovative workout uses a stability ball to help you burn calories, strengthen your core muscles, improve your balance, and tone your entire body. Class focuses on proper technique, all you need is a stability ball. Strudents bring their own, inflated ball to class. Make sure you use the proper size ball for your height.: 4’8”-5’3” use 55 cm, 5’4”-6’ use 65 cm, over 6’ use 75 cm. Bring an inflated ball to class.

Tai Chi for Balance

Looking for better balance and coordination while walking? The first part of each class will be dedicated to using tai chi movements in a specific way to improve your balance, functional walking, coordination, range of motion, and leg strength. Then we will practice the 9 Phases of Chi, which is a powerful approach to strengthening your body while enhancing your nervous system, releasing unhealthy thought patterns and emotional blockages and discovering the true essence of your spirit. Experience the pure joy and freedom of stress relief, increased energy and vitality, inner peace and pain relief. The 9 Phases of Chi can be practiced while seated if need be. Please wear loose, comfortable clothing and bring some water to drink.

Tai Chi with Robin, Session I
