Session I: Mindful Sounds, A Field Recording Adventure

$50

with Kate Beever

In this two-part workshop, you will learn to use sound recording as a tool for mindfulness and stress relief, as well as learn about soundscapes and human impact on biodiversity. The first week will be a nature walk in the Brunswick area where we will meet at a predetermined location for a stroll and collection of sounds (using either a field recorder or a cellphone). The second week will be a discussion-based virtual meeting, where you will learn how to download your field recordings and turn them into a piece of music or guided meditation that can be used time and again. Please wear comfortable clothing and bring a small notebook/writing utensil and either a phone or another tool for recording sounds. Please email kate@mainemusicandhealth.com if you'd like suggestions for gear/apps, but nothing fancy is needed. Covid 19 safety protocols will follow state and school district recommendations for in-person events. No discounts. Note: These walks are not hiking. We will just be walking a bit and stopping to record. Open to all. Each location will be chosen based on accessibility.
