Beekeeping, Fundamentals

The course will cover the what, why and how of beekeeping. Topics include but not limited to bee biology, equipment requirements and setup, seasonal management techniques, diseases, pest management, etc. The goal of this course is to develop a foundation for new beekeepers to be prepared to keep bees. No class on Feb. 18.

Writer's Notebook & Studio

Tap into new, surprising, inspiring words in this improvisational, studio-style, monthly afternoon writer's workshop. The focus is on creative flow, writing in the moment, and generating material for your own writer's notebook. You will produce writing in multiple forms, including fiction, poetry, memoir, even graphic narratives. Prompts to encourage and support your writing process will be given at the end of each class. Class dates are Jan. 26, Feb. 23, March 29, and April 26.

Backyard Chickens, Introduction

Recognizing the fact there are those amongst us who are food insecure, many donate produce to the Merrymeeting Gleaners, who harvest surplus crops from local farms and donate them to food pantries and other service organizations. Have you ever noticed when you are wearing certain colors people comment on your looks? Learn how to look healthier and more attractive by dressing for your eye, hair and skin coloring as well as for your face shape. In this one evening workshop each attendee will have the opportunity to be draped in different shades of colors to demonstrate how choosing the right shades impacts your appearance and compliments your skin. Participants will also learn their face shape and receive overall tips on how to choose glasses, hairstyles and necklines that are the most flattering for their features.
