Step 1: Get and complete a Commercial Driver License Application Form HERE or at any Local Department of Motor Vehicles.
Step 2: Obtain a State of Maine, Criminal History/Background Check (CHRC) and fingerprinting.

This process could take several weeks so complete it early in the process!!
Step 3: Get a DOT physical exam. Completed by a medical examiner registered with U.S. DOT FMCASA National Registry of Certified Medical Examiners. A list is available HERE
Occupational Health Associates, 442-8625, in Bath is available for DOT physicals. When contacting a provider state that you are a new school bus driver applicant and will be a “self-pay”.
Step 4: Send in your application, a copy of your CHRC approval card and a copy of your DOT physical form with a fee of $35, ($70 after Jan. 1, 2018), for Class B and $10 ($20 after Jan. 1) for school bus and $10 ($20 after Jan. 1) for passenger endorsements to the Bureau of Motor Vehicles

It may take up to 6-8 weeks to receive your exam date. ALL documents must be submitted together or the application will be rejected and returned.
Step 5: Study the Maine Commercial Manual Driver License Handbook, sections 1,2,3,4,5,10,11,12 and 13. Questions on the exam come directly from this handbook. Do not do your own research online or use online testing for CDL exams as they may not be written for Maine.
Step 6: When you get your permit DO NOT send road test card to the State. That will be done once you have completed the course.
Step 7: Call Merrymeeting Adult Ed, 729-7323, they will contact the instructor to contact you
Step 8: Once contacted pay Merrymeeting the fee of $285 for the driver training course
Once you have attended the first lesson you will NOT be eligible for a refund.
If class is not completed in five months you will need to re-enroll and pay the fee once again.

HVAC Information Session:
Be introduced to the training available at MEMA Technical Training Center located in Brunswick. They will explain their hands-on approach to HVAC-R training. MTEC courses are designed so students spend about 50% of their class time working in the 2,400 sq. ft. training lab with the same equipment they would experience out in the field.
