Merrymeeting Art Camp, Session 1

$210

with Jennifer Linskey

Calendar Jul 11, 2022 at 9:30 am, runs for 1 week

Exploring the 2nd dimension: A week of drawing, painting, printmaking, and collage

There are so many ways to go about making a drawing or painting. Get ready to draw with an eraser, dip a stick in ink, and layer marks in charcoal and chalk. We’ll go over color-mixing, draw with paint, look at how artists build a painting, and try different underpainting colors. We’ll learn some fun printmaking techniques, and experiment with collage. At times we’ll work from observation, but we’ll also explore working from invention, and abstraction. Join us as we explore the second dimension!

Materials included.

Sessions 1 and 2 will NOT be a repeat of each other. Though the focus for both sessions will remain on exploring the 2nd dimension.

Monday-Thursday, July 11-14, 930AM-230PM + Friday July 15th, 930AM-1230PM

Calendar Jul 18, 2022 at 8:30 am, runs for 1 week

Merrymeeting charts a new course this summer in partnership with Sailing Ships Maine. The primary instructional boat, the Paul Bolger-designed 25 yawl, is a strong, beamy, shallow-draft cruising boat ideal for Merrymeeting Bay. The decks are wide and spacious and will keep students socially distanced as they spend the week outdoors. Students should bring lunch, snacks, water bottle, sunscreen, a hat, and wear appropriate shoes (no flip flops). The cost of each session is $295 and includes a one-year membership in U.S. Sailing; U.S. Sailing Small Boat Sailor Certification, full access to the U.S. Sailing Skill-Up App to help students and instructors track individual student accomplishments; National Association of State Boating Law Administrators safety course certification; and a Sailing Ships Maine T-shirt, rope, and journal.
