American Sign Language – Level I Session II
with Martin Samuelson
Do you work in a business that comes in contact with Deaf consumers or know someone who is Deaf? Enhance your communication with Deaf and Hard of Hearing family, friends, co-workers and customers and learn basic sign language communication, including the sign alphabet, finger-spelling, numbers, vocabulary (colors, animals, foods, etc.), and familiar phrases. Enjoy using vocabulary (hand shape, location, movement) and sentence structure. If interested, a ‘how-to’ lesson on teaching baby signs to pre-verbal children can be included. Late-Deafened adults are welcome as are motivated and serious high school seniors. No previous sign language experience is necessary. Join Martin Samelson, energetic ASL college professor and job coach for the Deaf, and learn how to communicate without voice by the end of your first class! ASL is a visual language so no textbook is required. Handouts will be available.
