Bookbuilding for a Novel or Memoir
with Paulla Estes
One of the hardest parts of writing a book is knowing where and how to begin. This course will help you identify the deep level WHY that’s spurring you to write this book, as well as the point your book wants to make. With these two components, you will craft a 50-word description, a 250-word jacket copy, categorize your genre, brainstorm titles, and identify your ideal reader. Then we’ll get to know your protagonist or narrator and you’ll begin writing your first and last scenes. At the end of four weeks, you will have a rough narrative arc, list of major scenes, and a unique outline that will serve as a guide as you write. This is a straightforward and fun method I use with book coaching clients. BRING – laptop or plenty of paper and pen, and your book idea. This 4-week class will meet once/week for 2 hours.
