Merrymeeting Adult Education

This course will include walking in the woods to find edible mushrooms along with detailed descriptions of habitat and structure of mushrooms. Your instructor, David Spahr, has collected edible mushrooms for 46 years and is a member of the Maine Mycological Association and the North American Mycological Association. Every walk bears a different bounty depending on the season, the weather and location. The majority of mudrooms found in nature are often not edible, and learning this element is even more important than knowing which ones you can eat. Require Supply List: Notebook and pen to take notes, sensible clothing and footwear, water, snack and bug repellant. A basket or bags are optional. Children 8 to 15 are allowed to register only with a parent who is also registered. These hikes can be moderate in difficulty. No discounts. ***Walk will be shorter than advertised. David gives an outdoor talk first, followed by the walking portion.
