Interpreting the Landscape
with Deena Ball
$125
Students will learn about painting each element of the landscape in watercolor: oceans, water, trees, mountains, structures and fields. In addition they will learn about compositional strategies used in landscape painting. We will work with the concept that sometimes less is more and try to paint the essence of a landscape. In order to do this we will be introducing a method that students can use to enable them to find the essence of what and why they are painting. The first day of the workshop will be spent in the classroom working on the elements of the landscape. On the second day we will be going outside to paint a guided Plein air painting. If you do not own an easel, a chair and a board in your lap works for watercolor. Students should be using professional tube watercolors, good quality brushes and 100 percent cotton rag watercolor paper. Bring your own lunch/snacks.
