The Craft of Musical Composition
with Wes Coffin
$125
*NOTICE OF LOCATION CHANGE: This class will now run out of Brunswick High School.
Gather the tools to start making your own music! In this 6-week journey, you will learn about music and how it is composed. Composing music takes hard work, love, and a deep knowledge of the craft. This course is designed to teach you the fundamental aspects of craft, so that you can continue to develop your skills in the right way after leaving the course. We will create our own composition together by studying the masters (ranging from Bach, to Billie Eilish!), and having open dialogues about what we think is musically effective or not. Even if you have little or no music experience, the skills you learn in this brief course will set you up to create and/or explore music in a deeply fulfilling way for the rest of your life. Join us on this exciting adventure into music theory and history! Wes Coffin is a rising young composer from the New England area. He primarily writes contemporary classical music for a variety of ensembles. Please note: This is NOT a music class/lesson nor a group jam session. *No Class: 4/24.
