The Fundamentals of Creative Writing: Level 1

In this 8-week course, we’ll explore the basics of creative writing, including the various mediums, genres, and publication routes available to you, and we’ll practice the fundamental skills and habits you’ll use to become a successful writer. This class is open to students of all skill levels, and whether you’re ready to become the next Stephen King or just want to put pen to paper and have some fun, there’s a place for you here.

Men's Stretching and Strengthening Program

In this class, we will be using a combination of soft flowing and strengthening exercises, gentle stretching and balance postures focusing on postural alignment, focused breathing and a meditative mindset. Free the mind of distracting thoughts, expectations, and anxiety in order to experience centering, balance, reduce stress, develop strength, flexibility and gain personal control. 18 yrs. old and above. Bring a yoga mat, a stretch strap, and a water bottle. Wear loose comfortable clothing. *No Class: 2/17.

Loneliness and social isolation in older adults is a serious public health risk that affects a significant number of people in the US, putting them at risk for dementia and other serious conditions. For this reason, Tony Dancer, under his TDF program, has created the “Young at Heart Fiesta” Latin Fusion dance class program with low impact, low-volume music to protect hearing, easy steps to follow and lots of laughter. This program is offered free of charge with Tony Dancer, plus once a month potlucks! Adults with strong social relationships have a lower risk of major health problems, such as depression, high blood pressure, and an unhealthy body mass index. *Program is for individuals 70+ only.

Needle Knitting: A Winter Sweater Knit-Along

Are you a newish (or out of practice) knitter and ready to tackle your first sweater? Using my fool-proof classic pullover sweater pattern, you will learn basic sweater construction skills such as tweaking a pattern to achieve your perfect fit, knitting from the top-down, creating raglan sleeves, and final finishing techniques. Learn in a communal, stress-free and satisfying way! Some very basic knitting experience is required. Bring a sweater that fits you well to the first class. Students will purchase their own yarn and needles, so cost will vary. *No Class: 2/19.

Glass on Glass Mosaic

An intro to the bright and shiny world of glass on glass mosaics. Bring a nature photo for inspiration or go with the flow for an abstract adventure. Mosaic substrate is an unfinished wooden picture frame with a clear glass back. The first two classes are for breaking, arranging and gluing glass. The third class we will grout and finish. Tools will be provided for in class use. No experience required! All Materials provided. A material fee of $35 must be paid to the instructor on the first night of class.

Intro to Digital Photography

Come join us and learn the basics of photography. This course will teach you how to take the photograph that you want to by studying the exposure triangle and how it works. We will be focusing on DSLR and Mirrorless camera functionality and settings, proper lighting, and correct tripod usage. There will be classroom instruction as well as a field trip. Classroom instruction will include proper settings, photo composition, and editing using Adobe Lightroom. Our final class will either be a field trip (depending on weather) or some fun, in class, photography. If you already have a DSLR or Mirrorless camera, bring it to class! A camera is not required to take this class, but it sure makes it easier!
