In this summer camp for beginners, kids ages 8-12 will learn the basics of fencing. Stance, footwork, and bladework will be introduced and explored, and these young fencers will enjoy time to test their skills against their classmates in real fencing bouts on electric pistes. We will take lots of water breaks, and enjoy fencing-related games during this week-long training session. All equipment will be provided. No prior fencing experience necessary. Please be sure each student arrives wearing long athletic pants (no shorts), has clean indoor athletic sneakers, a water bottle, and a packed lunch. En Garde!

Are you ready to go fishing? Merrymeeting FISHING ADVENTURE CAMP is a full 3-day freshwater fishing program for beginner or experienced anglers, grades 3 to 6. It is fun, safe and educational. Lifelong fisherman and college professor Martin Samelson will be there to identify target species (Bass, Trout, Sunfish, Pickerel and Perch), help anglers match their bait and tackle to their target species, and encourage ''Catch & Release" fishing to be mindful of Maine's natural marine resources. Info sheet regarding equipment/materials will be provided. *Pickup & Drop-off at Adult Ed Center in Topsham. Session 1: Tues-Thur: 7/15, 7/16, 7/17 (Rain date: 7/18). Learn from professional new media artist and educator Andrew Elijah Edwards and create your own custom animation project from start to finish while playing with the artform. Discover and explore the fundamental concepts behind professional animation techniques and explore the medium of moving images in this week long adventure!! ***Ages 13-17.

Embark on a culinary adventure at our exciting Kids Cooking Camp! We will explore the world of international flavors like Swedish meatballs, Mexican enchiladas, English scones, Greek spinach pie, Asian Stir fry and American ice cream! The young chefs will learn about basic kitchen tool use, oven safety, measuring, sequencing in food preparation, teamwork and aesthetic presentation of dishes. They will also learn about spices relative to each cuisine. Participants should bring containers daily to take home samples of what we make to share with family. Instructor Debra Arter, a former teacher, has been a camp cook and teaching adult ed. baking classes for a decade. For ages 10-13 years old. *All materials/ingredients will be provided.

This camp experience will allow kids to create and tell their own stories over the course of a week. We will learn and use improv theater techniques and exercises to explore and express ourselves and flex our imagination, culminating in a showcase performance on the final day for friends and family. No experience necessary, just the courage to be on stage and skills for being silly. Elise Voigt is a trained actress and theater educator who has been working in the midcoast area for the last 15 years. Her love of theater and children perfectly combines to make meaningful and memorable moments for students and audiences alike. ***Ages 9-14.

Join us this summer for Spy Academy! Presented by Mad Science of Maine, this program features fun-filled, hands-on, secret agent-themed science activities that allow kids to play detective, explore forensic science, sharpen their surveillance skills, and crack encrypted messages.
