MEDITATION AND STRESS MANAGEMENT

This class will assist you in establishing a meditation practice and introduce you to practical mindfulness practices you can resort to whenever you feel stressed out. Taught in an informal, personalized, manner by a certified stress management and yoga instructor with a twenty-year meditation practice. Watercolor and Ink Illustration - In-Depth

This intermediate to advanced-level class integrates pen and ink techniques with watercolor. Students will gain skills for observational drawing with traditional ‘dip pens’, and precision painting with watercolor. Through projects such as utilizing color theory to paint white flowers, students will develop in-depth skills for illustration. Students can either buy themselves the required materials - the materials list is linked here - or they can buy material kits from the Mix, an art store in Brunswick (here is a link to a student-grade kit, and here is a link to an artist-grade kit).

SHORT STORY WRITING 101

Is there a story that you feel needs to be told? Perhaps you have an idea for a story that has been rattling around in the back of your mind for weeks, months, or even years and would love to get it out of your head and onto paper. Maybe you simply love reading and would like to start creating stories of your own. It is easy enough to say “just sit down and write,” but if you find yourself staring at the blank page in front of you and wondering “where do I start?” Or perhaps you are already working on a story but would like to polish your current writing style. Or maybe you are simply curious as to how writers craft their stories. No matter which category you fall into, this course is for you! Join your instructor, Stephanie Garrity, in learning the basic building blocks of writing short stories, including; setting, point of view, characterization, plot, dialogue, description and style. Intermediate Drawing

This class is geared toward those who have had a bit of drawing experience, and would like to hone skills but aren’t starting from square one. If you have taken a beginning drawing class before with me, and want to further expand your skill set this class is for you! We’ll re- visit measuring and value, then dive into more complex drawing concepts. Gesture, narrative, and interior are among topics we’ll explore. We will, at times, abstract from nature and broaden ideas about what a drawing can be. Class work will be a combination of working from observation and springboarding into abstraction. *No Classes: 2/20.
Exploring Nature with a Sketchbook

This beginner-friendly class explores nature through a series of art exercises designed to spark creativity and mindfulness. We’ll use techniques for observing the outdoors with all our senses, and drawing landscapes using watercolor, ink, and watercolor pencils. Students will gain a variety of techniques for working quickly, accurately, and creatively, all while connecting to nature. Intro to Stained Glass

In this one night class you will learn about the different kinds of glass , how to cut and grind glass. We will be making acid etched hearts. You will be able to take them home that night. Lab fee $10.00 to be paid to instructor at the beginning of workshop.
Registered Maine Guide Training

Train to become a working Registered Maine Guide not just a test taker. Learn the skills that guides use daily including: map & compass, coastal navigation, shelter building, separated client searches, cooking, canoeing, snowshoeing, SUP’ng, plus specialty skills for recreation, sea kayaking, tide-water fishing, inland fishing, and hunting future guides. This ten-session hybrid program includes Zoom, optional all-day skill workshops, and homework assignments. Optional skills workshops are at an additional cost. Those thinking of becoming a Registered Maine Guide will need to take a first aid and CPR course, not included. This is an online Zoom course for 10 weeks. *No Class: 2/18.
