Registered Maine Guide Training

Train to become a working Registered Maine Guide not just a test taker. Learn the skills that guides use daily including: map & compass, coastal navigation, shelter building, separated client searches, cooking, canoeing, snowshoeing, SUP’ng, plus specialty skills for recreation, sea kayaking, tide-water fishing, inland fishing, and hunting future guides. This ten-session hybrid program includes Zoom, optional all-day skill workshops, and homework assignments. Optional skills workshops are at an additional cost. Those thinking of becoming a Registered Maine Guide will need to take a first aid and CPR course, not included. This is an online Zoom course for 10 weeks. *No Class: 2/18.

Create connection to yourself and to others through improvisational theater exercises led by a trained and experienced actor and theater educator. We will learn the “rules” of improv technique, like the practice of saying “Yes, And..”! We will share laughter and enjoy surprises while exploring play, using our imagination and collaborating with others. Improv is a wonderful tool for toning the mind and body. Practice the art of performing through intuitive play! Elise Voigt is an actor and theater educator with over 20 years of experience. E-Z Sweets Night

Beautiful objects are created in this class every semester by beginners. You can create a stained glass window or lampshade using the copper-foil technique. Learn acid etching and drilling. This is a fun and rewarding course. A complete list of materials will be discussed on the first night of class. The cost of materials is not included in the course fee and can vary depending on choice of glass and what your imagination will create. Note: You will also need to purchase your own tools, which can run between $45-$95. *No class: 10/14, 11/11, 2/17, 2/18.

Illustrating Bouquets with Watercolor and Ink

Capture a bouquet with watercolor and ink! We’ll explore techniques for illustrative ink drawing with ‘dip pens’, and layering and mixing vibrant and organic hues with watercolor. Students will leave with their own unique composition of a bouquet. Students can either buy themselves the required materials - the materials list is linked here - or they can buy material kits from the Mix, an art store in Brunswick (here is a link to a student-grade kit, and here is a link to an artist-grade kit).
