Chunky Blanket Workshop

Have you been eyeing those fabulous chunky blankets you’ve been seeing at expensive home décor shops? In this workshop, you will learn how to make your own! Using buttery-soft jumbo yarn, you will create a scrumptious blanket using a simple hand-weaving technique. Choose from an array of beautiful colors! Absolutely no knitting, crocheting, or weaving experience is necessary. A $55 materials fee is due to the instructor immediately following registration and is non-refundable after yarn orders are placed. The dimensions of the finished blanket are approx 4.5' x 6' - it varies a little bit due to differences in how tightly/loosely people work. *The deadline to register for this workshop is 1/6 due to pre-order requirements. Instructor will contact registrants directly about material preferences.
Registered Maine Guide Training Course

Train to become a working Registered Maine Guide not just a test taker. Learn the skills that guides use daily including: map & compass, coastal navigation, shelter building, separated client searches, cooking, canoeing, snowshoeing, SUP’ng, plus specialty skills for recreation, sea kayaking, tide-water fishing, inland fishing, and hunting future guides. This ten-session hybrid program includes Zoom, optional all-day skill workshops, and homework assignments. Optional skills workshops are at an additional cost. Those thinking of becoming a Registered Maine Guide will need to take a first aid and CPR course, not included. This is an online Zoom course for 10 weeks. *No Class: 2/17.

In this workshop budding artists will receive step-by-step guidance to create a beautiful portrait of their beloved furry or feathered companions. No Prior experience is necessary; Shirley welcomes beginners with open arms. Whether you’re a seasoned artist or picking up a brush for the first time, this class is a fun and rewarding experience as you immortalize your pet on canvas. New Moon Vision Board

American Sign Language (ASL): Level I
with Martin Samelson

Learn basic sign language communication, including the manual alphabet, fingerspelling, numbers, vocabulary, Deaf culture, and familiar phrases to enhance communication with Deaf and hard of hearing family, friends, co-workers, students, clients, and customers. Previous sign language experience, textbooks, and a dictionary are not required. Your instructor will supply all materials. Martin Samelson has taught ASL to college and high school students in private lessons, corporate programs, and job development with Deaf clients. ASL is a visual language, so no textbook is required. The instructor will supply all materials. Our IN-PERSON instruction will include Deaf culture, hand-shapes for the A-B-Cs and number systems, vocabulary and simple sentence structures. Each class will include time for you to practice and suggestions for at-home practice. We will NOT be using ZOOM for any portion of this class.
Heartsaver First Aid/CPR with AED: Adult & Child

Become certified in First Aid/CPR/AED – Adult and Child. All the equipment (manikins and AEDs), videos, Student Workbooks, and consumable supplies are provided. Included in the course are adult and child CPR with AED and first aid skills, where the students demonstrate the skills learned. Upon successful completion, an American Heart Association First/Aid CPR and AED Certification card will be sent to the student, valid for two (2) years. For those taking the course to meet U.S. Coast Guard requirements, a Certificate of Completion that indicates this course meets the requirements of 46 CFR 11.201 for Merchant Mariner Credential will also be issued. Please bring: A yoga mat, a journal, and anything that supports your comfort—such as a blanket, cushion, or eye pillow.
