Beginning Singing with Randy

$90

with Randy Lindsey, MMA

Calendar Next available session starts Sep 16, 2024 at 6:30 pm, runs for 8 weeks

Come join our singing class this semester and learn your own singing voice. We will address concepts such as matching pitch, projection, pronunciation, and singing in SATB format. We will have fun singing in parts while discussing vocal production to help you become a more confident singer. We need male/low pitch voices because we usually have more ladies than men, so if you're a bit shy about singing, know that others are shy, too. You may surprise yourself! Come discover your own vocal range and learn how piano is used to understand music. Each semester is a new class. New students: $20 material fee paid to instructor for 1 book and more. *No Class: 10/14 & 11/11.

Oil Painting Studio—Achieving Originality of Color and Brushstrokes

$165

with Ed Higgins

Calendar Next available session starts Sep 18, 2024 at 9 am, runs for 10 weeks

This term, the oil painting atelier will be experimenting with Ed’s hit-and-run alla prima principles, and his split pile color mixing strategy. You’ll learn to use a color checker, and create custom colors and save them in empty tubes. The aim is to stop relying on factory colors and white uptints for vibrance, and instead achieve a personally customized palette; to stop over blending or one-brush painting, and instead evolve a confident repertoire of brushstrokes that comes not from fear or expectation of results, but from each artist’s unique and individual style and aesthetic. This is a learn by doing studio class. Designed for Ed’s continuing oil painting students, or intrepid artists wanting to explore the medium in the best way possible, by teaching themselves. Working alongside your peers in a supportive environment with coaching and help from a knowledgeable instructor. **Special note about art materials: Please do not call our office about materials. Come to the first class with your favorite sketchbook and drawing pencils & pens. Suggested materials will be discussed by the instructor on the first day of classes. Thank you.

Nordic Walking is like cross country skiing without the skis and is one of the fastest-growing outdoor activities in the world. It burns 20 to 40 percent more calories than regular walking, develops upper body strength, increases safety by adding upright stability, while reducing the impact on lower body weight-bearing joints. It improves neck and chest mobility, enhances mood, and is a fun and social way to enjoy the outdoors year round. Nordic walking is suitable for everyone from the beginning exerciser to the active athlete. Please wear comfortable footwear and dress for outdoor weather. Equipment rental fee $9 or bring a set of Nordic Walking poles.
